The Mk 80 family of low drag, general purpose bombs that have become the standard for the US armed forces, as well as many others. Although they have been steadily improved since their introduction in the 1950Æs, these have generally been minor modifications to fuzes and filling, not significant design changes. They have also served as the basis for many other munitions, such as the AGM-62 Walleye, the Paveway series of laser guided bombs, and the AGM-154 JSOW.%n
